"Given the different directions pursued by TNB and PCB (Perak Corp Bhd) in respect to the future of the LBT (Lekir Bulk Terminal) and LMT (Lumut Maritime Terminal) assets, I will be selling my Integrax shares, as it will be more beneficial and productive for me to pursue the business projects and opportunities I intended to develop in Lumut, in a number of other suitable locations in Malaysia and the region," he said.

Follow the Big Boy! - 01 April 2015

Strategy to follow the big boy, i.e. Employees Providend Fund ("EPF") is one of crude strategies to piggyback on EPF. EPF has the capability to transact millions (or even billions) of Ringgit per day and such enormous transaction volume would alleviate or dampen share price of any individual stock concerned. My "Follow the Big Boy!" series would aim to assist investors in identifying any short window of opportunity to gain along with EPF.

Please refer to the link here for a short introduction to the "Follow the Big Boy!" series.

Pre-GST Shopping ~ the Uncle Style

Red Alert ~ GST is Coming!

Unfortunately, we are two days away from the implementation of 6% GST commencing on 1st April 2015. Hence, it is highly advisable for your March salary to be spent wisely on pre-GST shopping. Although we can’t stock up everything that we need, we can still purchase a few major items which could possibly save hundreds (or even thousands) of Ringgit.

The rule of thumb is to purchase non-perishable consumable goods based on foreseeable consumption pattern! (Duhhhh!..... isn't it obvious? but what exactly should we buy?)

I recently had done an uncle style pre-GST shopping and I would like to share some potential items that could be sitting in your shopping cart before GST kicks in:

1) Electronic gadgets

Are your gadgets getting slower or running out of fashion? Why not take this opportunity to buy yourself a new one?

Laptop, Camera

Tablet

Smartphone

2) Furnitures

To all the property owners out there, are you owning any bare property units? Ever thought of furnishing them to enhance rental yield? Let's take action now before it's too late.
Sofa Set

Dining Table Set

3) Supplements

Supplements can be expensive. If you need cod liver oil, Vitamin C, or any other supplement that your doctor prescribed. Get them now.
Supplements

4) Cosmetics

Understand that we can't buy a lifetime supply of cosmetic due to expiry dates but it's definitely a wise choice to stock up a few bottles of expensive skincare products in your drawers
Skincare Products

5) Car Services

Cars are essentials in Malaysia and so does car services. If your maintenance is due soon, it is advisable for you to bring your car service appointment forward before 1st April 2015. In addition, you may consider changing your tyres which are soon-to- be worn out.
Tyre Replacement

Car Maintenance

6) Sanitary Pads

A must-have for the time of the month. Foreseeable consumption hence why wait to pay more?

The list can go on further but I believe everyone would have an unique shopping list tailored to his/her consumption pattern. If you are having difficulty to come out with a comprehensive shopping list, you may consider spending some time walking around at a hypermarket. By scanning through the shelf items, you are likely to be reminded of your needs in the coming months.

Happy GST-shopping everyone!
